Abstract
The purpose of this study was finding the pain inhibitory effects of acupuncturing and electro-stimulation at LI©þ. The pain at dentes incisor was evoked by noxious electric stimulation. For the mechanism behind the acupuncturing function, the opioid antagonist was administered intraperitoneally. The results were obtained from data of dEMG changes based on time interval.
Followings are some of the results.
1. The fairly good analgesic responese of acupuncture at LI©þ were shown at 40, 60, and 80 minutes.
2. The general analgesic effect from LI©þ acupuncturing was not shown due to naloxone.
3. The pain inhibitory effect following the electro-stimulation at LI©þ was somewhat shown at 20 and 60 minutes.
4. The general analgesic effect from the electro-stimulation at LI©þ was not shown due to naloxone.
It was concluded that effect of acupuncture at LI©þ was shown better than the electro-stimulation on the same acupoint. However, the general analgesic effects from both acupuncturing and electro-stimulation were not shown at all due to naloxone. Further studies of acupuncture manipulation are needed in the future based on the present study.
